A Chat with Tyra Gilbert from the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre

In this episode I sat down with Tyra Gilbert, who works in Fundraising and Communications for the DEWC (Downtown Eastside Women's Centre).

Tyra shares her goals for helping the unhoused population in Vancouver's DTES, as well as some major misconceptions about the area.

About the DEWC: "The Downtown Eastside Women's Centre has provided a safe space for women and children in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. We provide practical support, basic necessities and hot nutritious meals to over 1000 women and children every day. Throughout our 5 service sites, and thanks to our wide array of services, we support women to make positive changes in their lives by connecting them to a continuum of services including outreach, advocacy, wellness, recreation, housing and skills development."
